With high-speed wi-fi,comfortable workspaces & full kitchens Remington Flats makes the perfect work-on-the-road choice.

One of the most significant changes that our business experienced in the last 18 months is a significant increase in the length of stays and people staying for a month or more. This is due almost entirely on the new found flexibility in the workplace allowing employees to work remotely. We talked to these long/er-term guests and based on their feedback made the investment needed to significantly improve our WIFI speed and connectivity, better workspace in some of the studios and improved our outdoor spaces to allow WIFI reception outdoors as well as private outdoor work areas.

SOME CONSIDERATIONS FOR CHOOSING A PLACE TO LAND

What kinds of attractions and amenities does your city offer? Are there great community resources to help you meet other people, or even co-working spaces? Will there be cultural inspirations to help spark new ideas? What about proximity to nature? Let’s take a look at answers to these questions and more below as we explore why Fort Collins makes such a great destination for digital nomads.

WHAT IS A DIGITAL NOMAD?

Pretty much any remote worker whose business primarily takes place online can be considered a digital nomad. The idea is that they take their work with them wherever they go. A digital nomad can be a social media influencer, an online retail sales manager, a digital outreach consultant, or even a traveling life coach or yoga instructor. As long as your work is flexible and remote, you can travel wherever you like and stay as long as you want. The main consideration for maintaining a digital nomad lifestyle is ensuring that you have constant access to fast reliable internet and a good space to set up your laptop and work. Besides a strong internet connection, there are other factors to keep in mind.

WHY FORT COLLINS IS GREAT FOR

DIGITAL NOMADS

1. Short Term Rental Prices

One key feature that digital nomads need to look for in housing and rental searches is whether they can sign a shorter term lease at an affordable price. Constantly moving from place to place can present certain problems in this department, as many landlords will offer lease incentives for signing a longer term contract. Luckily in Fort Collins, digital nomads can find shorter term housing like Remington Flats where you have your own private space, balconies, beautiful grounds, high-speed wi-fi, and hotel like amenities at affordable rates. No deposits, contracts, or credit checks required!

2. Stunning Nature

Outdoor enthusiasts will love the breathtaking vistas that are part of daily life in Fort Collins. Fort Collins is located next to the flowing Cache la Poudre River, nestled into the base of the stunning Rocky Mountains. So living in Fort Collins means you have access to hundreds of miles of gorgeous hiking and walking trails, horseback riding, and mountain biking.

Plus, the Cache la Poudre river itself provides tons of opportunities for water sports and waterside relaxation. Whether you want to laze about on the shore in the sun, go for a cold water swim, put on a snorkel mask and look for underwater creatures, or try your luck at fly fishing, the river provides endless modes of recreation. You can also go rafting down the rapids, or hop in an inner tube and float your way down the river currents.

Fort Collins gets an average 237 days of sunshine per year, more than the national average, so you can get outside and enjoy the sunshine in the mountains or by the river for the majority of the year.

3. Craft Beer

Fort Collins is known as Colorado’s Craft Beer Capital and for good reason. Craft beer fans will love tasting their way through the flavors created by local artisan craft breweries. There are almost 30 separate craft breweries in Fort Collins alone, not to mention the rest of Colorado, so digital nomads can sample their favorite IPA’s, German style lagers, amber ales, creamy European style cask ales, and more.

4. Coworking Spaces

Natural beauty, craft beers, and fun in the sun are important ways to unwind once the workday is over, but digital nomads moving to Fort Collins will be looking for space to hunker down and get some work done as well. In Fort Collins there are five different official coworking spaces on offer. Most of these are listed on fo(co)works, an alliance of dedicated coworking spaces in Fort Collins and nearby Loveland that seeks to provide an easy to navigate platform for creatives and digital nomads to find the best working space for them. Which makes it extremely easy for someone who has just moved to town to find their footing and get started in the right office.

5. Laptop Friendly Cafes

Local cafes and restaurants know that work from home employees often like to set up shop while they eat and drink, browsing the internet on their laptops as they take in the background sounds of music and chatter around them.

For nomads who like a bit of atmospheric setting during their workday, it is important to find cafes that offer free internet, electrical outlets, and don’t mind them sitting for hours at a time with their laptops. Local Fort Collins cafes like Alley Cat, the Bean Cycle, and Mugs make great offices away from home. And at Wolverine Farm and Letterpress House you can even snack on free popcorn.

Cheerful and Welcoming

For digital nomads ready to take advantage of the natural beauty, remote work resources, and year round sunny weather available here, Fort Collins is a great place to be. Affordable short term rental fees make living here temporarily more than feasible. And who knows- for plenty of digital nomads, Fort Collins might just become a lasting home base, a place to set up shop each year and visit over and over again.
